Making peace seems inexpensive
when all it begs is a modest seat
at the opulent feast;
until these coveted least upend
the burnished table,
and spoiled banquet is slung,
fleshy game exposed
to open air.
Roll out a blanket upon an open field,
watch the long blades bow,
the sparrow melt into elderberry,
the sun deferred to clouds.
Come.
