I saw it with my own eyes—
the dove with leafy twig,
whilst hastily pegging
the washing my body had
labelled "urgent".
It sprung backwards
out of veiled canopy
as if the tree itself
had elbowed it
into view.
I snorted,
flung my head
with matched unrule
and cackled with laughter.
Here we were;
clumsy, haphazard and
unmistakably
alive.
How the earth carols peace
whilst man shrieks of war.
